Rise never intentionally Bonded Yoshitoshi; he was simply the most persistent of his flock at following and harassing her in her first trip into the Iron Mines. When she stopped screaming and used her Warp Band to ask him to get out of her hair pleasepleaseohsaviorplease, he decided to stick around. He's been in the Habitat ever since.

He's also taken a shine to the much larger and cooler bat Jiro, who in turn has adopted him as his ward and junior partner in "crimefighting".
