Rise is a professionally-beautiful Japanese teenage girl, around five feet tall with a slim dancer's build. She has brown eyes amd long auburn hair that she wears up in twintails as part of her idol image, but has recently taken to wearing down and naturally wavy while offstage. She dresses in the eclectic style of teen Japanese high fashion, preferring bright colors in the summer and softer pinks in the winter.
CANON HISTORY: This is pretty thorough. You can ignore the Persona X Detective Naoto entry though. Please.
CANON PERSONALITY: Actors - good actors - have been known as people of a thousand faces. The ability to put on and take off a metaphorical mask - or a literal one, going back to ancient stage plays from which "personas" got their name - is one of Rise Kujikawa's strengths and, at the beginning of the game, a major source of her self-doubt. Rise's emotions and expressions run the gamut, not because she's acting per se, but because she is an emotive person well-suited to acting, who goes from "role" to "role" to show the world all her different facets. Thus, her moods and personality are changing and varied without being tempestuous, moving back and forth between perky, introspective, flirty, and gloomy at an impressive pace, depending on the situation. Rise once questioned herself deeply on who the "real her" was, out of all her roles and personas - the answer she arrived at, after facing her Shadow and some additional help from her new friends, was that they were all a part of her, all combining to make the whole of Rise Kujikawa, a core fact about herself she now always keeps in mind.

The Rise most people see in person - for most of the latter half of her canon, at least - is a cheerful, helpful, fun-loving, and sometimes downright bubbly high school girl. During and after her stint in Inaba helping to solve the mysteries there, she became dedicated not only to being honest with herself and having fun with her new friends, but also to helping people in her own way. Besides volunteering immediately to back up the guys in their fairly insane quest of saving people from the TV World and serving as team cheerleader as well as analyst, she's a supportive person in general, especially complimentary and engaging toward her less open fellow first-years, Kanji and Naoto. While Rise is friendly and supportive most of the time, though, she's not afraid to speak her mind at all, easily busting out sarcasm when annoyed and happily teasing people when they become too serious for the situation.

It's heavily implied in the original game that the reason behind Rise's openness with her feelings and opinions most likely comes from the desire, which she articulates better in quiet moments, to show people who she is. Her Shadow, in the game, took the form of a stripper both to mock the manufactured and hyper-sexualized "Risette" and, on a deeper level, to show Rise's desire to express herself truthfully and to have her true self recognized by others. This is what she accepted from her encounter with her Shadow, followed later by a realization that whatever role she played in a given situation was still her. As she expressed to the main character later, she wanted to show everyone all the roles that were part of her.

As such, Rise hardly has a singular personality. Beneath the surface of enthusiasm, her moods run the gamut of teenage expression from overwhelmed at her complex life to maudlinly pouty and self-analytical to surprisingly insightful calm, especially when she's in private with someone she really cares about (hint it's the main character). Between growing up as a shy, bullied girl, and constantly wanting to reinvent herself, Rise thinks about herself and her future probably more than any sixteen-year-old who isn't a Persona character, and it shows in quieter moments, and in moments where she needs it, such as understanding her Persona almost immediately to save the people who just saved her from a surprise boss fight.

Rise remains the perky, emotional girl she's always been, but the year between her introduction and the start of her last game gives her a lot of time to grow as well. While still occasionally catty and self-centered toward people she's less familiar with, she is dedicated to her friends to an intense level, to the point where she makes it her mission in her "comeback" concert to make sure her Inaba friends are there as backup dancers, which in turn leads to an adventure through the TV World to rescue people in which she takes a leading role alongside Souji. Ultimately, she's grown into, if not an actual leader, someone who has a goal in life, and that's supporting family and friends as much as possible.

POINT OF DEPARTURE: Not applicable
ABILITIES: Rise has the power of Persona, which I'm sure you're familiar with by now - a psychic manifestation of the personality she uses to face the world that grants magical powers. Unlike many others, Rise's Himiko is a "support" Persona - barring specific circumstances, she has no powers that can be used for offense, instead focusing on tactical analysis of enemies and coordinating and supporting groups of allies.

For the record, I'll be going with "Himiko" for the Persona name since that's what the spinoffs use, and I'll be using the version from Persona 4 Golden since Himiko's new abilities in Ultimax are implied to be a one-off thing while Rise's isolated away from her group (and she literally forgot the powers she used in Persona Q).

Himiko's canon abilities are as follows:
  • Full Analysis: Over the course of a few rounds, reveal an enemy's stats, weak points, and skills. (Excludes Bosses)
  • Third Eye: Reveal the effectiveness of an attack (after target has been attacked with the same affinity).
  • Healing Wave: Recover 5% HP after battle (party).
  • Certain Escape: Escape random battles successfully.
  • Relaxing Wave: Recover 5% SP after battle (party).
  • Treasure Radar: Reveal the location of nearby treasure chests.
  • Enemy Radar: Reveal the location of nearby enemies.
  • Weakness Scan/Complete Analysis: Reveal one/all of one/all enemy's/enemies' weakness(es) at the start of battle automatically. These are the skills of Rise's ultimate and super-utlimate Personas Kanzeon and Kouzeon, which Rise could have, but doesn't demonstrate after the end of Persona 4 Golden.

Himiko also has several out-of-battle abilities, namely, allowing her to communicate with her allies mentally at a distance (and coincidentally, stream music, which comes in handy more often than you think) and see through their eyes, letting her help coordinate the group during their dungeon-crawling without getting involved in combat herself. She can also detect other humans trapped in the "TV World" at great distances, as long as she knows what to look for, which is how the Investigation team finds Mitsuo Kubo, Naoto Shirogane, Taro Namatame, and Nanako Dojima in their respective dungeons. Since these skills are obviously psychic in nature, I propose that these out-of-combat abilities be replaced by the equivalent Telepathic Skills Sensory Livestreaming, Sensory Eavesdropping, and Psychic Detection.

INVENTORY; Stage costume, bag with casual clothes, smartphone (with plenty of music)
ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW? Merry Christmas again, Matt.
